Cause:
The leftover folders may still contain Windows cloud-file metadata created by previous FileCloud Desktop installations. This may occur after upgrading, testing beta versions, or uninstalling FileCloud Desktop.
Resolution or Workaround:
Before proceeding, make sure that any files you still need from the FileCloud renamed folders are backed up to another location.
- Restart Windows in Safe Mode.
- Navigate to the affected user's profile directory.
- Try deleting the FileCloud renamed folders using File Explorer.
- If the folders cannot be deleted through File Explorer, open Command Prompt as Administrator while still in Safe Mode.
- Run the following command:
rd /s /q "C:\Users\<username>\FileCloud renamed"
Replace <username> with the Windows username.
- Repeat the command for any additional folders, for example:
rd /s /q "C:\Users\<username>\FileCloud renamed (1)"
rd /s /q "C:\Users\<username>\FileCloud renamed (2)"
- Restart Windows normally.
- Confirm that the leftover FileCloud renamed folders have been removed.
Notes:
Do not delete the main FileCloud folder unless you have confirmed that it no longer contains any required files or unsynced local data.
Always back up any required data before deleting leftover FileCloud Desktop folders.
