Outlook Plugin – Server URL Auto-Fill Not Supported

Original Question or Issue:

Customer requested assistance in configuring the FileCloud for Outlook plugin to automatically populate the Server URL during login, similar to the behavior in the FileCloud Desktop application. Attempts using Default Policies and Windows registry keys were unsuccessful.


Environment:

  • Product - FileCloud for Outlook
  • Version - Any
  • Platform - Any

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Install and open the FileCloud Outlook plugin

  • Attempt to sign in

  • Expect the Server URL field to auto-populate (via policies or registry)

  • Observe that the field remains empty


Error or Log Message:

  • No specific error message reported

  • Behavior observed: Server URL field does not auto-fill


Defect or Enhancement Number:

No JIRA assigned


Cause:

The FileCloud Outlook plugin does not support auto-populating the Server URL via:

  • Default Policies

  • Windows Registry Keys

This differs from the FileCloud Desktop client, which uses a separate configuration mechanism that allows auto-fill functionality.


Resolution or Workaround:

  • Users must manually enter the Server URL during initial login

  • Recommended to:

    • Provide users with the correct Server URL in advance

    • Include this in deployment or onboarding documentation
