Network Share shows 'failed to get file listing' while trying to access it from the User Portal
Original Question or Issue:
A network share was mounted and visible from within FileCloud but returned "failed to get file listing, check if path is valid and you have access" while trying to access the Network Share from the User Web Portal.
Environment:
- Product - FileCloud Server
- Version - 23.261
- Platform - Any
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Map a network share in FileCloud with full permissions applied.
2. Log in to FileCloud User Portal and attempt to open the Network share.
3. Observe "failed to get file listing, check if path is valid and you have access."
Error or Log Message:
From the FileCloud Server Logs:
"failed to get file listing, check if path is valid and you have access"
"CLFC-04401 No NTFS Access for Default Type User"
Defect or Enhancement Number:
Cause:
The affected FileCloud user had been created as a Default user through SSO import, so FileCloud could not evaluate NTFS permissions correctly for the network share.
Resolution or Workaround:
Change the affected user type from Default to AD/LDAP. After this change, the network share should re-appear in the Web Portal for the users given access.
Notes:
- For NTFS-based Network Folders, AD/LDAP-backed users are recommended.
- AD/LDAP group import should be used when NTFS permission evaluation is required.
