Intermittent Duplicate Folder Creation During Drag-and-Drop Upload in FileCloud
Original Question or Issue:
- Duplicate folders are created intermittently when dragging and dropping folders into FileCloud.
- Issue occurs primarily when uploading folders containing multiple subfolders.
Environment:
- Product - FileCloud Server
- Version -
23.261.2.33071
- Platform - Any
Steps to Reproduce:
- Drag and drop a folder containing multiple subfolders into FileCloud.
- Observe intermittent duplicate folder creation.
Error or Log Message:
- Multiple concurrent
core/createfolderrequests for the same parent folder. - Some requests return HTTP 200, while others return HTTP 400.
Defect or Enhancement Number:
FCL-13498
Cause:
- The UI sends folder-creation requests for dropped folders and subfolders without waiting for previous requests to complete.
- Subfolder requests also create missing parent folders.
- Concurrent requests can create multiple copies of the same parent folder.
- Duplicate count corresponds to the number of concurrent folder-creation requests that successfully complete.
Resolution or Workaround:
- Proposed UI fix: process folder-creation requests sequentially and wait for completion before uploading folder contents.
- Backend improvement also identified to prevent duplicate intermediate folder creation during concurrent requests.
- Fix ETA not yet scheduled.
- Monitor FileCloud Server Release Notes.
