How To: Transfer share ownership in FileCloud

Original Question or Issue:

How can public shares created from My Files can be transferred to a different user.

Environment:

• Product - Any
• Version - Any
• Platform - Any

Steps to Reproduce:

• Create a public share within your My Files folder.
• Go to the Admin Portal >> User Shares, and locate the public share created.
• Edit the Share Permission by changing the Share Owner value to a new user.
• You will encounter an error.

Resolution or Workaround:

The Share Owner can be changed if the share was created for a Team Folder or Network Share. However, this is not the case for folder/files within My Files.

• Go to the Admin Portal
• Access User Shares
• Select the share that needs to be modified and click on the Edit button
• Change the Share Owner field to the username of the new share owner.
• Click on the Update button to save.
