How to create direct-download links for specific files within a shared folder in FileCloud, bypassing the landing page and initiating the download immediately when the link is clicked.
Environment:
- Product - FileCloud Server
- Version - Any
- Platform - Any
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a public share for a folder containing one or more files.
- Copy the shared-folder URL.
- Open the URL in a browser.
- Observe that the FileCloud landing page or folder contents page appears.
- Select a file and use the download option to download the file.
Error or Log Message:
Defect or Enhancement Number:
Cause:
The standard public shared-folder URL opens the FileCloud landing page or folder contents page. A direct-download URL is required to initiate a file download without displaying the landing page.
Resolution or Workaround:
Create a direct-download link for each required file within the public shared folder.
- Hover over the shared folder, select the Share icon, and choose Copy link to clipboard.
- Open the copied URL in a text editor.
- Replace the FileCloud page path:
/ui/core/index.html?mode=public&shareto=#expl-tablwith:core/downloadfile - Append the file path and filename to the URL.Example — File in the top-level folder:
customers.docx&filename=customers.docxExample — File in a subfolder:images/background.png&filename=background.png - Save and distribute the modified direct-download URL.
The procedure supports public shares from both My Files and Team Folders.
Important: A separate direct-download link is required for each file. The standard shared-folder URL continues to open the folder contents page. The direct-download method does not provide a single link to download multiple individual files simultaneously.
