How to Create a Team Folder Account in FileCloud 23.253

Original Question or Issue:

Unable to properly create/configure a Team Folder account in FileCloud Server 23.253. When creating the account through the Team Folders page, the user account is created under Admin Portal → Users, but the Team Folder account setup does not appear to complete. Retrying may indicate that the user already exists.

Environment:

  • Product - FileCloud Server
  • Version - 23.253
  • Platform - Windows, Linux

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Log in to the FileCloud Admin Portal.
  • Navigate to the Team Folders configuration.
  • Attempt to create a new Team Folder account.
  • Observe that a user is created under Admin Portal → Users, but the Team Folder account configuration may not be completed immediately.
  • Attempting to create the account again using the same username may indicate that the user already exists.

Error or Log Message:

 The Team Folder account is not created/configured as expected, while the corresponding user account already exists under Admin Portal → Users.

Cause:

This behavior is related to the older Team Folder account creation workflow/UX in FileCloud 23.253.

In 23.253, creating an account from the Team Folders page initially creates the underlying user but does not immediately qualify/configure it as a Team Folder account. An additional Edit step is required to complete the configuration.

The workflow has been improved in newer FileCloud versions.

Resolution or Workaround:

For FileCloud 23.253:

  1. Create the account from the Team Folders page.
  2. Confirm that the corresponding user has been created under Admin Portal → Users.
  3. Do not delete the newly created user.
  4. Return to the Team Folder configuration and click Edit.
  5. Enter/select the same newly created username to complete the Team Folder account configuration.
  6. Ensure the username is entered in lowercase.
  7. Save the changes and verify that the Team Folder is configured and accessible.

Recommended resolution: Upgrade to FileCloud 23.262 or later, where the Team Folder account creation workflow has been improved and the administrator is prompted to complete the Team Folder configuration immediately after user creation.
