Files Deleted After Share Expiration

Original Question or Issue:

  • Files are unexpectedly deleted after shared links expire.
  • Audit logs show deletefile operations under ADMIN.

Environment:

  • Product - FileCloud Server
  • Version - Any
  • Platform - Any

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Navigate to Settings → Misc → Share.
  • Enable Remove Expired Shares.
  • Enable Delete Files from Expired Shares.
  • Create a share with an expiration date.
  • Allow the share to expire

Error or Log Message:

  • No specific error message.
  • Audit logs show deletefile operations under ADMIN.

Defect or Enhancement Number:

Cause:

  • TONIDOCLOUD_DELETE_EXPIRED_SHARES and TONIDOCLOUD_DELETE_FILES_FROM_EXPIRED_SHARES are enabled.
  • Expired-share cleanup removes files associated with expired shares.

Resolution or Workaround:

  • Navigate to Settings → Misc → Share.
  • Disable Delete Files from Expired Shares.
  • Check the Deleted Files section in the User Portal to locate and restore previously deleted files.
