FileCloud Update Fails Due to High Disk Space Requirement (100GB+)

Original Question or Issue:

I am receiving an error when trying to update my FileCloud server to the latest version. It is saying that I need over 100GB of free space to perform the update which I thought seemed a bit off.

• Version - 23.253
• Platform - Any

Cause:

The FileCloud Update Tool performs a disk space validation before proceeding with the upgrade. The required space calculation includes:

• Backup of existing installation files

• Extraction of update package

• Temporary installation files

• Database operations (including audit database growth)

• Safety buffer to prevent incomplete upgrades

If sufficient disk space is not available, the update process is blocked to prevent corruption or partial upgrades.

Resolution or Workaround:

Increase available disk space on the drive where FileCloud/XAMPP is installed until it meets or exceeds the required threshold shown in the update tool.

Once sufficient space is available:

1. Re-run the FileCloud Server Component Update Tool.

2. Proceed with the upgrade.

In the reported case, adding the required disk space allowed the update to complete successfully.
