FileCloud Admin Portal Does Not Display Full Folder Share Permission Matrix Visible in User Portal

Original Question or Issue:

Administrator is unable to view the complete list of users and permissions for a shared folder from the Admin Portal, while the same information is visible in the User Portal.

Environment:

  • Product - FileCloud Server
  • Version - Any
  • Platform - Any

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Log in to the FileCloud User Portal.

  • Navigate to a shared folder where the user has the “Manage Share” permission.

  • Observe that the user can view all users/groups the folder is shared with, along with their assigned permissions.

  • Log in to the FileCloud Admin Portal.

  • Navigate to the same folder and review the available sharing and permission details.

  • Observe that the Admin Portal does not display the same complete “shared with” permission matrix shown in the User Portal.

Error or Log Message:

No error message generated.

Defect or Enhancement Number:

Cause:

This is expected behavior in FileCloud.

The User Portal is designed to provide users with visibility into folder sharing details, including who the folder is shared with and the permissions assigned, provided the user has the “Manage Share” permission.

The Admin Portal, however, is focused primarily on administrative management and effective access evaluation rather than displaying the full sharing matrix interface available in the User Portal.

Resolution or Workaround:

Administrators can still perform the following actions from the Admin Portal:

  • Check Effective Access for individual users

  • Review folder ownership and permissions

  • Manage shares and access controls

To view the complete list of shared users and assigned permissions in the same format, access the folder through the User Portal with appropriate permissions.
