CLFC-50020 "Empty Folder Listing" Errors in FileCloud Sync

Original Question or Issue:

A customer reported that the FileCloud Sync client was displaying repeated CLFC-50020 – Empty Folder Listing errors while synchronizing network folders. Although the Sync client reported the folders as empty, the same folders and files were accessible through the FileCloud Web UI.

Environment:

  • Product - FileCloud Sync
  • Version - 21.3.x
  • Platform - Windows

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Configure FileCloud Sync to synchronize network folders.
  • Open the Sync Activity window.
  • Observe multiple entries reporting:
    • CLFC-50020 – Empty Folder Listing
  • Verify the same folders through the FileCloud Web UI.
  • The folders and files are accessible in the Web UI despite the Sync client reporting errors.

Error or Log Message:

CLFC-50020 - Empty Folder Listing

Displayed in the Sync Activity window for multiple synchronized folders.

Defect or Enhancement Number:

Cause:

The issue was isolated to a single user's workstation.

Review of the logs and customer-provided screenshots indicated:

  • The folders were accessible through the FileCloud Web UI.
  • No evidence suggested a server-side permission issue.
  • Only one user experienced the problem.
  • The affected workstation was running an outdated FileCloud Sync client (v21.3.2.7501).

This pointed to a local Sync client installation or cached configuration issue rather than a FileCloud Server issue.

Resolution or Workaround:

The customer resolved the issue by performing a clean installation of the FileCloud Sync client:

  • Stop the FileCloud Sync client.
  • Back up and remove the FileCloud Sync data and configuration under:
    %AppData%\FileCloudSyncData
  • Install the latest supported FileCloud Sync client.
  • Reconfigure the synchronization folders.
  • Allow the initial synchronization to complete.
  • Verify that the affected folders synchronize successfully.

After completing these steps, the customer confirmed that the CLFC-50020 errors no longer occurred.
