Cannot copy and paste contents of files in the Web User Portal preview

Original Question or Issue:

Cannot copy the contents of a public share when previewed from the Web User Portal.

Environment:

  • Product - FileCloud Server, 
  • Version - Any
  • Platform - Windows, Linux, MacOS

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a Public Share for an Excel or PDF file.

2. Grant only View + Upload permissions.

3. Copy the share URL.

4. Preview the share from a different browser or tab.

5. Highlight the contents to copy. Notice that the paste does not work.

Defect or Enhancement Number:

 

Cause:

User previewing the contents of the file from the Web User Portal will not be able to copy or paste contents if the Public Share permission did not include Download. 

Resolution or Workaround:

For users to be able to copy contents from a file preview of a Public Share, it requires Download permission to granted.
